Florida is the thunderstorm capital of the United States, with more storm days, on average, than anywhere else in the country. During the "rainy" season (May-November) in Southern Florida, thunderstorms develop nearly every single afternoon as cooler air from the coastal sea breeze pushes inland over the hot an humid landmass.
